Tarona (b. 1985, Curaçao) is a visual artist, film director and educator. She explores identity, culture, and how people see the world. Her work focuses on giving space to the Black Diaspora and on the experiences of people with mixed and multicultural backgrounds. She also looks for ‘hidden magic’ that appears when different cultures and identities meet. She hopes to inspire people to fully embrace themselves — in ways that will last across time and generations. She is currently based in The Netherlands; working on her upcoming film AWA and is a resident at Beeld & Geluid.
